NATIONAL DRIVE-IN DAY!
“The Whole Family Is Welcome… Regardless of How Noisy the Children Are.” That was the slogan when the very first drive-in movie theater opened its gates in Camden, New Jersey on June 6th, 1933. Richard Hollingshead, Jr. — a chemical company magnate with a passion for movies — nailed a screen between trees in his backyard, threw a Kodak projector on his car hood, and tested sound levels by rolling his windows up and down. A Great Night at the Midway Drive-In!
Last weekend I hosted this year's Flashback Weekend annual Dusk to Dawn Horrorfest at The Midway Drive-In and it was one of the best yet. The Midway is located an hour and forty-five minute drive outside Chicago in charming Dixon, Illinois . The annual all-night horror moviethon in September marks the end of the drive-in season at the Midway and every year it's pretty special. This year was no different. Flashback Weekend Creators: Mike & Mia Kerz
Mia and Mike Kerz at their beloved drive-in theater, The Midway Drive-In in Dixon, Illinois As I continue to focus my blog this week on the Flashback Weekend Horror Convention, I would be remiss not to mention the incredible people who make this event happen every year, Mike and Mia Kerz. I have known this very special couple for about 30 years (I've known Mike longer, as he was a fan of my radio show way back in the day). Their first date was to see a play that I wrote, dir

GEORGE ROMERO: A Tribute.
We recently passed the 7th anniversary of the death of the remarkable filmmaker George A. Romero . So, I wanted to share some Romero stuff here on my nickdigilio.com blog...so here goes. Here I am with the great George A. Romero at The Flashback Weekend Horror Convention. It was a dream come true to know him. First, this is what I wrote on July 16, 2017, upon hearing of George's passing: "OK, I'm gonna give this a shot. I am absolutely crushed by the death of George A. Rom
